Have you read the ingredient label of that moisturiser that you are using, how about that shampoo, soap or even nappy cream. You may be surprised.Ingredients derived from food allergens are regularly added to creams, cosmetics or even hair products. Allergens may be lurking in labels under unfamiliar names. You may have to refer to food avoidance lists that are used when shopping for food allergic family members to find the hidden names for these allergens.
Check egg lists and peanut lists for alternative names for these common allergens
I raided my bathroom and found facial scrubs containing nut oils, mascara containing bees wax, shampoo containing wheat protein. I looked for an alternative and my family has started using Neways products. It has been the best thing i have ever done for the kids. All those minor skin irritations they used to get have now disappeared. Who would have thought.
What is interesting is that there is no legal requirement for cosmetics to identify food ingredients or allergens in their products. Hopefully this can change quickly
